Word of the Day: anoesis
[anne-oh-EEE-sis]
a state of mind consisting of pure sensation or emotion without cognitive content
こんにちは Konnichiwa! I'm Julia, a teenager with a passion for writing, which makes me sound super unique on this website. ;) I work at Baltimore's Teen Perspective 2 News (and produced this past month's episode), which broadcasts on channel 2 the last saturday of each month (and then goes up on the web for all of you people here). I'm a lesbian, a vegan, a pacifist, and a ukulele player, and I blog about today's politics with the objective of bringing together the left and right-wing echo chambers for the good of the world. And, as you can surmise, an idealist.
I'm in 11th grade (yes, the infamous junior year), and am super busy, so I haven't written in a while. You have permission to bug me about this, just click the "Contact Author" button and bug away :). I'm in the awkward space between being fluent in Spanglish and being fluent in Spanish, and want to study Hindi in India in college. I also want to take Japanese, Chinese, Bengali, Catalan, Latin, Arabic, Russian, and Burmese– languages are kind of my thing. I'd like to go into Journalism when I get out of college, and my dream job would be producing a network news show. Or, for now, interning at The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, or The Rachel Maddow Show. As I said earlier, I'm looking to graduate from high school after junior year, and go off to college then. My top choices are:
In case you're curious, my under-practiced hobbies that I'm way too busy for include writing, blogging, ukulele, guitar, piano, singing, running, drawing, cooking, reading, skiing, drinking tea, climbing trees, hiking, biking, and sleeping.
My vices are coca-cola, constant news updates, skins, and tumblr. I love my tumblr more than I love myself.
This month (November) I'm NaNoWriMo-ing, which should take up most of my time. What time isn't sucked into that black hole will be used for the crapload of school work I have this month (including exams) (I'm a junior!), my WMAR internship mentioned above, and running my school's Gay-Straight Alliance. This won't be easy...
I'd like to introduce you to:
Meg, my twin, who finally joined after much convincing, and is now doing quite well for herself on here, citing Lame Valentines Day Rhymes. I'm actually a little jealous.
Ritu, my secret sister whom I look nothing alike and live no where near, but with whom I undoubtedly share genetic coding.
Will, the one and only.
Emily, my best friend since the 3rd grade, who joined, but hasn't been on in forever. Come back Em!!!!
さようなら Sayounara!
-Julia <3
